Joseph Vladimir Sanchez, a 25-year-old resident of Glendale, California, was arrested on December 20, 2025 following a report of sexual abuse by a student at a Glendale elementary school. He now faces charges including lewd acts involving children, sexual acts with a child aged 10 or younger, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Sanchez is currently in police custody and is being held on $6,000,000 bail.
Sanchez served as a contracted special education assistant from Covelo Group and was assigned to Columbus Elementary School and Glen Oaks Elementary School. On December 19, 2025, Glendale Police Department officers responded to a report involving a student who disclosed sexual abuse by Sanchez. The abuse involved an 8-year-old special needs student and occurred on school grounds. Following Sanchez’s initial arrest on December 20, 2025, detectives continued their investigation and identified three additional underage victims.
Glendale Police detectives believe there may be additional victims dating back as far as three years and are actively seeking information. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Glendale Police Department Assaults Bureau at 818-548-4840.
WE ARE INVESTIGATING CLAIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE BY JOSEPH SANCHEZ
Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP (PSR) attorneys and staff extend our condolences to the individuals and their families impacted by Sanchez. We sincerely hope there is a thorough investigation into the allegations and that all of Sanchez’s survivors obtain justice.
As experienced sexual abuse attorneys in California, we are investigating claims of sexual abuse by Sanchez and pursuing civil litigation on behalf of survivors. Civil litigation seeks to compensate survivors for the harm they suffered as a result of the abuse. Under California law, survivors may pursue damages for:
- Psychological and emotional harm;
- Costs for therapy or other medical/mental-health treatment;
- Impacts on quality of life or future opportunities.
PSR seeks to hold institutions accountable — including school districts — for failures in safeguarding the well-being of children in its care. These failures may include:
- Hiring individuals without adequate screening;
- Ignoring warning signs or prior allegations;
- Failing to act on reports or complaints; and
- Failing to supervise students on campus
When institutions fail — by allowing someone to work unchecked, ignoring red flags, or failing to act on reports — they must be held to account.
In October 2023, PSR obtained a $135,000,000 jury verdict in Riverside County against the Moreno Valley Unified School District for two former students who were sexually abused by their teacher. In that case, Moreno Valley Unified School District employed a child predator as a teacher for twenty years despite having actual notice of numerous child molestation complaints against him dating back to 1988.
