Pedro Antonio Tellez — who previously worked as a cafeteria worker within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and later held roles in the Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) — was arrested and charged with serious sexual offenses in October 2023. He now faces 13 counts of lewd acts on children under 14 years of age, plus one count of continuous sexual abuse involving a child under the age of 14.
Tellez’s criminal matter is currently ongoing with a preliminary hearing setting scheduled for December 11, 2025.
PSR is investigating claims of sexual abuse by Tellez and pursuing civil litigation on behalf of survivors.
The timeline of reported allegations against Tellez include the following:
- The earliest alleged offense dates back to August 2014;
- In 2018, law enforcement identified Tellez as a possible suspect in a Glendale case involving alleged molestation of a minor;
- Despite the 2018 investigation, Tellez continued to work for GUSD.
Civil litigation seeks to compensate survivors for the harm they suffered as a result of the abuse. Under civil law, survivors may pursue damages for:
- Psychological and emotional harm;
- Costs for therapy or other medical/mental-health treatment;
- Impacts on quality of life or future opportunities.
PSR seeks to hold institutions accountable — including school districts — for failures in safeguarding the well-being of children in its care. These failures may include:
- Hiring individuals without adequate screening;
- Ignoring warning signs or prior allegations; and
- Failing to act on reports or complaints.
When institutions fail — by allowing someone to work unchecked, ignoring red flags, or failing to act on reports — they must be held to account.
