PSR attorneys Jon Davidi and Tyler Paboojian secured a $3,000,000 policy-limit settlement on behalf of Mr. Watkins and his wife following Mr. Watkins’ below-the-knee amputation caused by unsafe construction conditions in their home. The couple contracted through their homeowners insurance with NorCal Construction & Restoration, a licensed contractor, to perform extensive renovation and flooring work at their Montague, California residence.
During the project, NorCal negligently left rusted flat-head nails exposed and concealed within the floorboards, creating a dangerous condition. Before the flooring repairs were completed, Mr. Watkins stepped on one of the hidden nails, which punctured his right big toe and led to a severe infection. Despite extensive medical treatment, including multiple surgeries and hospitalizations, the infection ultimately required a below-the-knee amputation of his right leg.
The lawsuit alleged negligence against NorCal and related parties and included a loss of consortium claim on behalf of Mr. Watkins’ spouse.
