Erika Contreras served as Co-Lead Counsel in a Texas wrongful death case arising from the tragic loss of Stephanie Ferrer and her two children, Leilani and Joseph Orr. The collision occurred when an employee of WS Energy, driving a company truck while under the influence, veered into oncoming traffic and struck the Ferrer/Orr vehicle head-on. The impact left the vehicle disabled and it was subsequently struck by two separate semi-trucks. All three occupants of the vehicle were killed. Plaintiffs alleged that the WS Energy driver was acting within the course and scope of his employment at the time of the collision, while Defendants argued he was on a personal detour, making them not liable for the deaths. PSR represented Ms. Ferrer’s adult son and the father of Leilani and Joseph Orr. The matter resolved through a global settlement of $11,000,000, with $5,500,000 allocated to PSR’s clients.
