In Illinois, Oak Park Board of Health Considers Bike Helmet Law

Posted on September 5, 2012

In Illinois, the Oak Park Board of Health met last week to discuss a potential ordinance that would require children in the area to wear helmets when they get on a bike.  The issue has previously been considered, but funding was never secured and such a measure has never gotten past the preliminary planning stages.  Other towns in Cook County are being examined for potential inspiration.  In River Forest, for example, there’s a law, but citations aren’t issued.  Numerous options are being weighed by the Board.
