Matt Coe-Odess

Matt Coe-Odess is a trial attorney at Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP with extensive courtroom experience and a proven record of delivering results in high-stakes litigation. He has successfully tried several jury trials and has served as first chair in multiple cases. Mr. Coe-Odess is known for his command of the courtroom, sharp cross-examinations, and his ability to present complex facts in a clear, compelling way to juries.
Mr. Coe-Odess served as a federal prosecutor in the Central District of California from 2023 to 2026, where he focused on prosecuting fraud and other white-collar crimes. He led complex investigations involving sophisticated misconduct, built cases from the ground up, and took them through trial. This experience honed his ability to uncover the truth, dismantle opposing narratives, and hold wrongdoers accountable.
Before entering public service, Mr. Coe-Odess spent seven years at top international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he handled high-stakes complex litigation, white-collar defense, and internal investigations. He represented Fortune 50 companies, chief executive officers, and major universities in their most consequential matters. He was the lead associate representing the University of Southern California in the nationally publicized “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal—an experience that placed him at the center of one of the most closely-watched investigations in the country.
Mr. Coe-Odess now represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury cases and other victims of serious wrongdoing. Having spent years investigating complex crimes and litigating against powerful institutions, Mr. Coe-Odess brings the same intensity, precision, and trial experience to advocating for individuals and families whose lives have been permanently altered through no fault of their own.
Mr. Coe-Odess received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, where he majored in Psychology and minored in English. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he graduated magna cume laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. While at Georgetown, Mr. Coe-Odess was a Global Law Fellow, an editor for the Georgetown Law Journal, and a member of Barrister’s Council’s Trial Advocacy Division.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mr. Coe-Odess enjoys spending time with his family, trying new restaurants, and beating his friends in fantasy football.
